The Rebel Ventures is working this summer to promote our Rebel Bars because we want to see a healthy community. More specifically, we want to decrease the chance of kids and adults in our neighborhood of getting diabetes and other heart diseases. There are so many corner stores around selling unhealthy, inexpensive snacks. On the other hand, there aren’t a lot of healthy and cheap choices around. We decided to rebel against the existing food system by making a delicious, affordable snack that is also good for you. We also believe that people have the right to know what they are eating, so we write all of the six, simple ingredients on the label of each bar we sell. It’s important to us that you can pronounce every ingredient in our granola bars. In addition, we care about quality so we use only the best ingredients we can find- many of them are local (to support our community and so that our ingredients travel fewer miles) and organic (to reduce pesticide exposure and GMOs).
We are going to take away a lot personally from this summer. For example, we had first-hand experience on how to run a business. We also learned how to advertise a business in-person and using social media. Even further, we met, interviewed and built relationships with business owners.
