Recently, we have been searching for new vendors to spread our delicious rebel bars. To do that, we started sending out emails to potential vendors around our community. We sent two emails to City Fitness and Philadelphia Runner. We’ve contacted Diana, the operations manager at City Fitness to propose a partnership and she wishes to arrange a time for ReBel Ventures to visit her and explain more about who we are. Meanwhile, we’ve also contacted...

Good afternoon, today is January 15, 2015 and we just finished our first staff meeting of the year. We have this staff meeting each week to make sure everyone’s on the same page and organized about our business. After the meeting we started  to brainstorm and storyboard for our new video. We’re making this video to ensure our fruit stand workers are aware of what Rebel Ventures is about. Fruit stands are usually stations set...

Yesterday, Marco Lentini, the owner of Gia Pronto restaurants, paid a visit to the kitchen at ReBel Headquarters. He spent 2 hours giving us feedback on how to improve the production of our product – ReBel Bars. When he first arrived, one of our leaders, Jarrett, gave him a tour of the kitchen and explained our 5 step process in making ReBel Bars: measuring ingredients, mixing ingredients, scooping the right amount of mix for each...

Today ReBel Ventures packaged 570 ReBel Bars. We are currently making our weekly deliveries to our neighborhood stores. Also, the crew is working on a new granola bar label that should appeal to our customers. It has honey combs on it, representing the natural honey we use to make the bars. ReBel Ventures gets this honey fresh out the hives from one of the finest bee keepers, Walt, in Kennett Square. His farm is located...

We are now starting to implement weekly Customer of the Week posts. This week our featured costumer is Jill Zhuraw. Here are a few things we learned about Jill at Clark Park's Farmers Market. Hometown: Swarthmore Favorite Food: Pomegranates Eating Healthy: Jill predominately eats a plant based diet. She says she eats whatever she wants, but this usually ends up being a fully vegan diet- plus honey! Jill says its about what you don't eat rather than what you do eat;...

When I first received the Serv Safe book from my supervisors I thought that I would never be able to get through the book. The Serv Safe book illustrates the correct procedures and proper ways to handle food. The book is fourteen chapters long and is filled with all different methods to prevent food-related illnesses and outbreaks. While studying for the exam I had to find ways to try and remember all the facts. I was...

We're BACK and BETTER than ever! In the past few weeks we’ve been happy welcome five new members to our Rebel Ventures crew. Justin, a high school student, helps make the Rebel Bars and sell them with the team in Clark Park. Matt, a Penn junior, helps with packaging and acts as our new Chief of Operations. Annabelle, a Penn freshmen, specializes in honey duty on the Rebel Bar assembly line. Desmond, a Penn Graduate School of...

The Rebel Ventures is working this summer to promote our Rebel Bars because we want to see a healthy community. More specifically, we want to decrease the chance of kids and adults in our neighborhood of getting diabetes and other heart diseases. There are so many corner stores around selling unhealthy, inexpensive snacks. On the other hand, there aren't a lot of healthy and cheap choices around. We decided to rebel against the existing food...

Not only do we just make Rebel Bars and sell them to vendors around Philly, we also sell our products at Clark Park Farmer’s Market every Thursday of the summer. This is a historical park located at 43rd and Chester. We sell our original Rebel Bars, along with plants grown by another UNI crew, and Seed Bombs. Our Seed Bombs attract a lot of questions because most people have never seen a Seed Bomb before....

Until today, we never knew how to edit raw footage on the computer. At the beginning of work, Ivan and Greg taught the Rebel Ventures how to use Final Cut Pro X. We were editing two videos: The Rebel Bar Production Process, which shows how the Rebel Bars are produced, and Vendor Stories, which provides interviews with the owners of two of our vendors. Kadidra’s favorite part of editing is the opportunity to add your...
