02 Apr Nevaeh’s Growth Story
I started working at Rebel Ventures right after graduating 8th grade. Originally I started as a Graphic Designer, which I didn’t really know much about. Over the summer I learned how to use Adobe Photoshop and an app called Canva. There were many challenges being a part of the team as a new crew member like during my first time being assigned to a project, the Graphic Design Mentor was away for the week and I could not keep asking my colleagues for help because they were busy with their own projects. After spending time working on it by myself I started to get used to it. Now eight months later, I have more confidence in what I create.
In November I took on the role of being the head of the Youth Entrepreneurship Department. Through leading this department, I am gaining new opportunities like keeping in touch with young entrepreneurs in the Philadelphia area to help promote their businesses. I have worked with young entrepreneurs with a skincare line, lip gloss company, and t-shirt clothing line.
The designs I am most proud of are the Rebel Wisdoms, a weekly social media post with inspirational quotes, and a new Rebel Ventures’ business card design that will replace the old design. I’m very excited that Rebel Ventures will be using the business card I made. I was motivated by looking on Instagram and seeing graphics done by other people. Certain designs caught my eye and inspired me to make my own.
Rebel Ventures is helping me grow a lot professionally and as a person. I’m becoming a more outgoing person in speaking up when we have events and our meetings. I really enjoy being here and learning new things that will help me in the future. Thinking back to when I started, I can see how I have grown and achieved a lot.
