Dayanna Shomo

Communications Specialist

Joined in October 2019

My name is Dayanna but everyone calls me by my last name which is Shomo.  I am a junior at Temple University working on my bachelor’s in communications studies. I joined the Rebel Crew in October 2019 as a high-schooler and have continued to work with Rebel Ventures throughout my college years. I am the editor and writer behind the blogs and quarterly newsletters.  As well as the one who is behind our social media pages.  I like how Rebel is giving me the experience of working in communications because I believe it will help with my major and later on in my career. I hope to help Rebel be able to be true to our missions and evaluate the team during my time here.

Kwan Howard

Rebel Group Leader

Joined in May 2025

Hi, my name is Kwan Howard. I am an art curator, organizer, and the founder of Vicarious Love, an arts group that builds creative infrastructure in Philadelphia through art programming and cultural-driven events. For over a decade, I have organized progressive spaces and initiatives that amplify local artists, support their careers, and invite the public to engage with art in transformative ways.

Alongside my work in the arts, I am passionate about education and have taught a youth art and design program at a Philadelphia charter school. I also serve as a Youth Group Leader with Rebel Ventures, where I work with a network of community and educational partners dedicated to equipping Philadelphia youth with skills and experiences that will benefit them beyond the classroom. This role deepens my commitment to mentorship, empowering young people to build confidence, creativity, and perspective through hands-on experience.
